20 Congregations in the Eastern Synod Central Toronto Ministry Area: Working together, creating a vibrant church relevant in our communities

Welcome to LutheransToronto

With 20 congregations in our Ministry Area, the largest number in the Eastern Synod, we decided a website would be a great tool to learn about each other, find out what’s happening in our area, and coordinate our resources. Have fun exploring the site.

While Central Toronto Ministry Area is a good geographic description, we think of ourselves as LutheransToronto

Features

This Christmas season many of us will not be gathering in-person in church and for some it will be the first time not being in church on Christmas Day. In this year marked by COVID-19, many are feeling separated, uncertain and anxious. Even still, we can rejoice that God is with us. Each congregation recorded these in December 2020 as a creative response to these times. Sing out as you watch, you’ll be together in spirit with all of us.

The first in our series of videos highlighting how our congregations are being church in their neighbourhood. The outreach team at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church talk about developing their mid-week Dinner Church.

The second in our series of videos “Eric asks” someone who participates in the Redeemer community what might be in it for him. The unscripted response reveals that we are a diverse and affirming community that explores the questions of life and faith together. We don’t expect everyone to arrive at the same answer, and that is okay. These explorations give our community a vibrant energy that gives us life, we then try to find ways to extend that life into the community around us, caring and sharing with our neighbours.
